TENMAT SHORT-LISTED FOR COMMERCIAL/INDUSTRIAL PRODUCT OF THE YEAR AWARD
TENMAT make the short-list for yet another industry award, this time for the Heating & Ventilating Review (HVR) Awards 2012 in the category of 'Commercial / Industrial Product of the Year'.

The judges deliberated over a record number of entries and selected the finalists for the prestigious HVR Awards ceremony next month. The judges were looking for innovation, outstanding technological achievements and service capabilities. The awards will once again provide the industry with an event with which the technology, innovations and successes of the past twelve months can be acknowledged and celebrated.

TENMAT have entered the Firefly 109 Vent Duct Fire Sleeve product range for the award. The Fire Sleeves are designed to suit both rectangular and circular ventilation ducting of all common sizes. In the event of a fire the FF109 Vent Duct Fire Sleeve reacts with the heat and expands, crushing the ventilation ducting and sealing off the void ensuring that there is no risk of the fire spreading.

Recent changes to test parameters in 2011 due to investigation into the fire stopping of ventilation ducting have enabled TENMAT to prove their superiority in the market by achieving the more onerous EN test standards on the FF109 Vent Duct Fire Sleeves. It is this superiority that has resulted in TENMAT winning the contracts for major projects such as The London 2012 Olympic Village.

TENMAT's Vent Duct Fire Sleeve product range is the only one fully tested to the latest and most onerous EN 1366-3 open / open standard. This means that it can be used in all ventilation applications (within the limitations of the test data) whereas, generally other products are tested to the much less onerous BS 476 capped / capped standard which is not designed for ventilation applications. It is the only range currently available which meets the full and correct test criteria for PVC ventilation ductwork. This ensures that the fire stopping is readily signed off by Building control and gives peace of mind to the buildings owners and occupants.

TENMAT MAKE THE SHORT-LIST FOR THE TTJ TIMBER INNOVATION AWARD 2012

TENMAT have been short-listed for the TTJ (Timber Trade Journal) Timber Innovation Award 2012 for the Firefly 107 Cavity Fire Barrier on a Roll product. The award recognises outstanding achievement and innovation in the Timber construction industry.

TTJ received a record number of entries for the 2012 innovation award. Mike Jeffree, the Editor of TTJ stated “The new Timber Innovation Award attracted an impressive number of high calibre entries, so the competition was intense and the judge’s job to decide between them was very difficult. Overall the Award highlighted just how focused this industry is on advancing the technical and market potential of timber and wood products and the level of inventiveness and ingenuity there is in the sector."

The TENMAT Firefly 107 Cavity Fire Barrier on a Roll product is a wall cavity fire barrier. The product utilises high expansion intumescent material which has a total length of 6.3metres and is fully sealed in PVC. The intumescent material has both a high expansion rate (approx 25 times) and high pressure generation. The fire barrier is only 4mm thick and so when fitted (via staples) into a typical 50mm timber wall cavity then an open cavity of 46mm remains, allowing full and unrestricted ventilation of the cavity to ensure that damp and associated degradation of the timber does not occur.

If a fire occurs in the wall cavity, the fire barrier rapidly expands to fully fill the wall cavity and any building defects which may be present to produce a fire resistant barrier. When the timber sheathing board or external cladding is eroded by the fire, the intumescent material keeps expanding to maintain a fire tight seal.
The winner will be announced at the TTJ Awards 2012, taking place on the 14 September at the Savoy, London with Nick Hewer, Lord Alan Sugar's co-star on BBC TV’s Apprentice as host.

TENMAT-RAILKO HELP THE IRISH NAVY

The Irish Naval Service is the State's principal sea going agency with a general responsibility to meet contingent and actual maritime defence requirements.

It is tasked with a variety of defence and other roles.

Defence roles include defending territorial seas, deterring intrusive or aggressive acts, conducting maritime surveillance, maintaining an armed naval presence, ensuring right of passage, protecting marine assets and contributing to a blockade if required.

The Naval Service must also be capable of supporting Army operations by sea lift and close naval support.

TENMAT-RAILKO are able to support the Irish Navy in their endeavours by supplying RAILKO NF21 Stern tube half bearing segments for their fast patrol boats.

One of their patrol boats has a cruising speed of 46.3 km/h (25 knots) and a sprint speed of 55.6 km/h (30 knots). The crewmen have given the vessel the nickname Road Runner and the cartoon mascot is displayed on the funnel, as its probably the fastest ship in the Irish Navy.

This incredible turn of speed is one reason for the use of RAILKO NF21 water cooled bearings the material of choice for this class of vessel, because of its ability to with stand the arduous range of speeds and running conditions.

Over the years TENMAT-RAILKO have helped many off -shore fast patrol boats, off the coast of countries such as Brazil, Malaysian, Indonesia, and South Africa along with many other countries.
